When anyone asks me about myself, the first thing I tell them is I am a Nana, a mom and a wife of 43 years to Wayne. My passion is and has always been to help individuals be the best they can be in their lives.
My background is: in 1992 I received my Associates degree from Harford Community College and in 1994, I received from Towson State University my B.S. degree in Elementary Education (Summa Cum Laude) and in 1998 my Masters Degree in Education from Towson University. Continuing with my education, I received a Certification in Administration from Towson University. Teaching for 10 years in Harford County was one of the things of which I am most proud, especially of my school team. After leaving teaching, the decision to help individuals was as strong as ever, so back to classes I went and became a certified Personal Life Coach, Social + Emotional Intelligence Coach and Career/Business Coach, a DiSC specialist and I earned a certificate in Applied Positive Psychology. Yes, that is a lot of classes, but I believe in being a life-long learner! I have continued on with my learning with various classes in other aspects of Positive Psychology.
I’ve always felt it is important to give back to my community and over the years, I have been involved in many community and volunteer activities. From PTA secretary when my children were in elementary school, to a Friend of the Joppatowne Library, I have always been willing to roll up my sleeves and dive into whatever needs to be done. As a charter member and past president of the Southern Harford County Rotary and the Rotary District 7620 membership chair, every year I become prouder of the work we do for our community and the world. As past chair of the Harford County Commission for Women, I received a proclamation from then County Executive David Craig for advancing women’s causes and educating women in the county on various issues – something I believe we need to still work on today.
Presently I am a Director for Freedom Federal Credit Union, and a past board member of The Chesapeake Professional Women’s Network, past membership chair for the Women’s Giving Circle and was on the governance committee for ARC Northern Chesapeake. In 2012 and 2014, I was nominated with other wonderful women for the Athena award. Being the Area Director of the Professional Referral Exchange in the Maryland area, and a former consultant for MacMillian/MaGraw-Hill helped me to really stretch my wings.
Longstream Coaching and Training is a company I began to help others to become the butterfly of which they’ve dreamed!
